We have two quick updates that rolled out today, here’s a brief overview …
Video Ratings
For years, our platform has only allowed users to Love a video, and there was only one place to do it : within their library, in a not-always-obvious spot. Many videos that sold like hotcakes still had a small percentage of Loves – it wasn’t obvious enough, users weren’t encouraged to use it, and they didn’t really understand the purpose. In addition, there was no nuance to it; they either Loved it or… nothing?
We’d been meaning to overhaul this for some time and today we’re announcing : 1-5 Star Ratings. Users can rate directly from their Library, or right from any video’s Stream page (shown at the top of this post).
Here’s a quick sample video of what Members will see…
To make this transition fair and simple : all of your Video Loves were converted to 5-star ratings. You don’t need to do anything, or update anything. Since only a small percentage of buyers bothered to Love a video, we felt they would’ve probably just as soon given it a 5-star rating if they were able. We’re still evaluating adding this 5-Star system to Photosets & Bundles.
Please note : a video can only be rated by a Member who purchased it (same as our old Loves system), and we are not allowing reviews/commentary on videos from Members (and may never do so, as it’s a headache to moderate those).
Search Improvements
We’ve always allowed Creators to add their own tags to their profile, to aid in Members finding similar Creators by tag. But, now, Members can search across all tags – even multiple tags – right from the Creators search page. In addition, Members can now search multiple tags and categories from the Videos search page. On both search pages, they can choose whether to only show results that match multiple tags/categories, or show results that match any of their chosen tags/categories.
Bringing both improvements together, Members can also search Videos by a Minimum Rating, helping them narrow results to what other Members have picked as particularly good videos.
We’re working on some big, exciting things right now but we wanted to get these two quick features out to you as soon as we could. We hope you’ll enjoy the added functionality!
